General Skills

      Aspirational (striving to uphold)         Mandatory (subject to disciplinary action)
1. Responsibility,
     a.    Take up only assignments that are consistent with your background, experience, skills and qualifications
     b.    Take decisions on interest of society and public safety
     c.    Fulfill commitments. We do what we say
     d.    When we make error take owner ship and rectify. When others make error communicate them to appropriate body.
     e.    Report unethical or illegal conduct to appropriate management and if necessary, to those affected by the conduct.
     f.    Verify that violations have occurred before reporting them.
2. Respect,
     a. Approach directly those persons with whom we have a conflict or disagreement.
     b.    Inform self & team about the norms and customs of others and avoid engaging in behaviors they might consider disrespectful
     c.    Do not abuse our position or expertise or influence others to benefit personally
     d.    Do not act in an abusive manner toward others.
3. Fairness,
     a.    Provide equal access to information
     b.    Make opportunities equally available to qualified candidates
     c.    Proactively disclose any real or potential conflict of interests to appropriate stakeholders
     d.    No favoritism based on personal interests or discrimination based on gender, race, religion,

     a.    Being truthful and transparent in all communication
     b.    Provide accurate and timely information
     c.    Not making misleading statements and half truths
     d.    Not engaging in dishonest behavior for personal gains
5. General
     a.    Contribute to PM knowledgebase by sharing lessons learnt, education, mentoring
     b.    A PM is to put organization and project needs above personal needs
     c.    Enhance PM competence through learning & sharing opportunities
     d.    Understand and capitalize on cultural differences among stakeholders for appropriate rewards/recognition and create environment of mutual trust
     e.    Spoken communication could be a source of misunderstandings if globally dispersed, multicultural teams are involved.
     f.    distinction between
        i.  Practice(unethical practices like an act of fraud)
        ii. Procedure(Company rules or policies on recruitment)
     g.    distinction between
        i.  Standard(Recommended methods that leaders in the industry follow like CMMI)
        ii. Regulation(Government mandated rules on complying to transport laws like Motor Vehicles Act)
     h.    Protect proprietary information –protect copyright of articles, books, software.
     i.    Protect confidential information
